Clutch Disc Judder

1. Vehicle vibrates/shakes when clutch is being released, at take off. 2. Dished and warped flywheel.

  • CAUSE
    • Flywheel not even.
    • Deep scoring indentations from previous worn clutch.
  • SOLUTION
    • Always resurface flywheel before installing new clutch. Refer Figure below.

Oily facings.

  • CAUSE
    • Faulty main drive oil seal.
    • Faulty rear main bearing oil seal.
  • SOLUTION
    • Replace clutch disc.
    • Replace faulty oil seals.

Melted grease on clutch disc side plate.

  • CAUSE
    • Installation error/misalignment (refer misalignment tips).
    • Inferior clutch facings.
    • Diaphragm spring load not to specification.
  • SOLUTION
    • Replace complete clutch and pilot (spigot) bearing.
    • Avoid misalignment on installation.
